Dr. Badrinarayanji Barwale

Dr. B. R. Barwale, Founder Chairman of Golden Jubilee School, Jalna, was a visionary, well-known entrepreneur, philanthropist, and educationist. With an agricultural family background, Dr. Barwale’s passion for contributing to this sector and to the country’s growth defined his work throughout his lifetime. He has done exemplary work to enhance the seed industry. Besides the seed industry, he has taken a keen interest in eliminating hunger & poverty, generating employment, and spreading education among the rural population. Dr. Barwale has also established a world-class facility for eye care, ‘Shri Ganapati Netralaya’ in 1992. He also established Badrinarayan Barwale Mahavidyala for Arts, Commerce & Science in June 1993 and Golden Jubilee School in June 1998. He has also founded the non-profit research organization Barwale Foundation and Philanthropy Trust – Mahyco Research Foundation Trust. Dr. Barwale has received several awards and recognition from various organizations like N.G.O.s, G.O.I. and professional associations. Some of the major awards received by him are Honorary Life Membership of FIS (1996); World Food Prize (1998); Father of Seed Industry in India (1998) by Crop Science Society of America, the Star of Asia (1999) by Business Week, Padmabhushan Award (2000) by The Govt. of India; Doctor of Science (Honoris Causa) in 2002 from Tamil Nadu. Agricultural University; Chirmule Award (2006) and honorary Degree of D.Lit. from Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University. He has written two books during the course of his life: ‘My Journey with Seeds and the Development of the Indian Seed Industry’ and ‘Bhoomi Putra’.
